Biophysics Core

Overview of Services

The Molecular Biophysics Core will fill the need to consolidate equipment widely used by the biophysics and biochemistry community. This will facilitate user access, training, instrument maintenance and knowledge dissemination. The core will dramatically reduce or eliminate the need for resources typically expended by host labs for equipment maintenance and user training. It will also provide collaborative project design, development, and implementation for internal and external academic as well as non-academic users.

The core provides a access to a broad range of well maintained equipment and services:

  • Fast Performance Liquid Chromatography for protein separation and purification
  • Stopped flow spectrofluorometer
  • Isothermal Titration Calorimetey and DIfferential Scanning Calorimetry suite which includes automated instruments for hight throughput screening
  • Dynamic and Electrophoretic Light Scattering for particle analysis, formulation stability
  • Mass Photometer for accurate mass measurments
  • Spectrofluorometer for steady state and kinetic studies for a great range of biophysicsl processes
  • Microscale Thermophoresis using both fluorpphore labelled and intrinsic fluorescence for binding affinity studies
  • Differential Scanning Fluorimetry for protein stability, ligand interactions and thermal melts
