The WCM CLC Biorepository is a shared resource which serves to collect, process, annotate, store, and distribute human biospecimens for all faculty and investigators throughout Weill Cornell Medicine. Below is brief overview of our services:
Solid Tissue Acquisition and Processing: IBC staff can acquire tissue from the operating rooms and interventional radiology suites at NYP or nearby clinics and transport it to Surgical Pathology for allocation. Once approved, this tissue can then be routed directly to research laboratories or processed, annotated, and stored in the biorepository for future use.
Biofluid Processing:
Biofluids can be processed in the IBC laboratory using a wide variety of fractionation and isolation services including, but not limited to plasma, serum, buffy coat and cryopreserved PBMC/CPL.
Specimen Storage and Distribution: IBC will offer monitored and regulatory compliant sample storage services for the following storage environments: controlled RT, 4C, -20C, -80C, and LN2 (vapor and liquid). All samples managed by the IBC will have a regulatory compliant chain of custody for both primary biosamples and any derivatives created from those samples. Sample retrieval and distribution services are provided for all biosamples managed by the IBC.
Additional Services:
Sample collection kit services for both solid and liquid biomaterial collection are available as well as nucleic acid extraction services for both solid and liquid biosamples being collected and managed by the IBC. Please inquire for more information about these customizable services.
